The
Ultimate Drive is a joint venture between BMW, the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation and BMW dealers nationwide. To assist in
finding a cure for breast cancer, BMW donates one dollar to the
foundation for every test mile that is put on a special fleet of
BMWs traveling from dealer to dealer across the country. The goal
of the Drive is to raise at least one million dollars to fight
breast cancer.
Last year, Hunterdon BMW raised almost $3,000 by logging 170 test drives and 2,248 test miles on a day filled with excitement for BMW drivers and optimish for the Komen Foundation. This year, Hunterdon BMW kicked off its event with over 20 test drivers enjoying breakfast and driving the first BMWs off of the lot. Among the first test drivers were officers from the Clinton Township Police Department and the Lebanon Police Department, and students in the Lebanon DARE program who were rewarded for their stand against drugs by riding with the officers in BMWs.
As lunch was being served, Juanita Polyak, the Office Manager at Hunterdon BMW, was honored as Hunterdon BMW’s local hero. Ms. Polyak, a breast cancer survivor, addressed the audience and stated that if it had not been for early detection of the disease, “I would not be here talking to you today.” Gailon McGowen, the Owner and President of Hunterdon BMW, presented Ms. Polyak with a bouquet of roses and a gift from her co-workers -- a BMW leather travel bag. In presenting Ms. Polyak to the audience, Mr. McGowen stated that she is the “rock” of the dealership whose feisty personality keeps everyone in line.
At the end of the day, the crowd applauded when it was announced that 274 test drives had been taken totaling over 4000 miles. Mr. McGowen, who noted that Hunterdon BMW had donated $2000 to the Hunterdon County Unit of the American Cancer Society two months earlier, was elated that the event had raised over $4000 in the fight against breast cancer.

Chapter of the BMW Car Club. Approximately 70 members attended.
Hunterdon BMW technicians Bill Wiedemuller and Rebecca Schindler

how to inspect their BMWs for the upcoming club racing season.
The
overall philosophy at each BMW Car Club Racing Event is: "A
competitive driving experience in any/all types of BMWs in a fun,
safe, and friendly environment where the primary emphasis is on
