East Mountain
Aquatic & Recreation Center

Looking Toward the Future

The East Mountain Aquatic & Recreation Center (EMARC) is a community- wide project for the entire East Mountain and Estancia Valley area.

EMARC indoor facilities will offer swimming, art areas, meeting rooms, and teen center. The outdoor facilities will include athletic fields, sport courts, skate park, picnic areas, and a hillside amphitheater.

How to Help EMARC

There are a number of ways to be a part of making EMARC happen. It will take teamwork and involvement of the entire region. Here's how you can help:

splash.jpg (60770 bytes)Volunteer to be directly involved by working in one of two areas: community events and programs or planning and development. Volunteers are needed to help with community events such as the Rt. 66 Run, Rally & Rock and programs such as summer activities. Professionals with experience in grant writing and research, construction, planning, project estimation, legal, financial, and promotions who could offer assistance are needed for EMARC planning and development.

Community Partners Program offers businesses an opportunity to support EMARC. Businesses can offer donations of cash, products or services to the EMARC project. In turn, we encourage patronage of our local partner businesses. It is a win/win situation for all. There are Community Parnter businesses throughout the region in Tijeras, Cedar Crest, Sandia Park, Edgewood and Moriarty.

1st Annual Rt. 66 Run, Rally & Rock (Saturday, May 26, 2001) will be a fun-filled day of non-stop fun and entertainment to benefit EMARC. Events include 5 and 10K runs, a pancake breakfast, 3 car rallies, a Classic Car Show, Wildlife West exhibits, arts and crafts fair, business expo, game booths, remote controlled plane demos, music and live entertainment all day. Races begin at 8:00am, Rallies begin at 9:00am in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Santa Rosa all converging in Edgewood. All other activities get under way at 10:00am and continue until 5:00pm. FREE PARKING and numerous FREE EVENTS all day long! To Volunteer or for Booth information, please call Linda Burke 286-5655
