An admission committee selects students for admission based on the information gathered in the above ways. The overriding principle in selecting students can the child succeed in this environment? Additionally, we make a concerted effort to create an interesting and balanced student body. In the admission process, we seek to bring together a group of students with varying backgrounds, interests, talents and personalities. After application files are reviewed thoroughly, the admission committee decides whether to admit, not admit or place an applicant on hold. Students who are placed on hold are placed in an unranked pool. All are students whom we would like to have at our school, providing we had the space. Should a class vacancy occur, the entire pool is reviewed in an effort to recreate the class "balance" so carefully created in the initial admission process. We know the process of admission is not an exact science. We try to be as thorough and as caring as possible in evaluating each and every application to Sandia Prep. We are looking for reasons to accept students — not reasons to reject them. No particular testing date gives a student an advantage.

During this two-hour program, families will learn all about Sandia Prep School and its educational philosophy. (This program is not an open house please plan to join us for the full two hours.) The program consists of campus tours with students and faculty, a well-organized and substantive information presentation that includes a slide show, and refreshments. Youll have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of faculty and administrators, as well as many students and their parents. We encourage everyone to attend.
Tuition for the 1999-2000 school year is $8,600, plus fees. Sandia Prep offers aid in the form of grants to families who demonstrate need. Nineteen percent of the current student body receives financial assistance. The amount of each grant varies, depending upon a familys need and our resources. The average award for this year is $4,816. A financial aid offer will accompany an offer of admission. Deadline for an application for financial aid is February 1, 2000.
